Smartsheet pricing: what each plan costs

Smartsheet costs $9 per Member per month on Pro and $19 per Member per month on Business when billed yearly, or $12 and $24 when billed monthly. Enterprise and Advanced Work Management are quoted, not listed. Pro is capped at 10 Members, Business needs at least 3 and Enterprise at least 10. There is no free plan for anyone signing up today, only a 30-day trial that does not ask for a card.

Calculate the bill in three parts: the people who need paid membership, the plan required for their work and any paid add-ons. An Editor sharing permission does not by itself mean a person can edit for free.

Disclosure: We make Ganttile, which is included below as a free scheduling alternative.

How much does Smartsheet cost per user?

The Smartsheet pricing page lists Pro and Business in US dollars per Member per month. Enterprise and Advanced Work Management require a quote. Budget for everyone who needs paid Member access, including internal staff who edit shared sheets.

Plan Billed yearly Billed monthly Members Who it is for
Pro$9 per Member per month$12 per Member per month1 to 10Individuals and small teams tracking projects; new customers only
Business$19 per Member per month$24 per Member per month3 or moreTeams that need Timeline view, Guests, unlimited automations and admin controls
EnterpriseCustomCustom10 or moreOrganisations that need SAML SSO, directory integration, Portfolios and Scenario Planning
Advanced Work ManagementCustomCustomCustomEnterprise plus the add-ons bundled: Control Center, Dynamic View, Data Shuttle, Connectors, DataMesh, Calendar App, Pivot App, Premium Support

Monthly billing costs 33.3% more on Pro and about 26.3% more on Business. Five Business Members cost the equivalent of $95 a month on annual billing or $120 on monthly billing. Monthly billing can suit a short project or an uncertain seat count despite the higher rate.

Who needs a paid Smartsheet seat?

Members are paid users. Contributors can view, comment and attach files with the appropriate permission, but internal users who edit can become Provisional Members. Continuing to edit may then require a paid Member seat.

External Guests are a different case: qualifying people outside the organisation can edit shared items without a Member seat on Business or Enterprise. Guest seats are not available on Pro. An Editor sharing permission controls what someone can do on a sheet; it does not determine whether their seat is free.

The seat type rules and subscription model overview explain provisional access and reconciliation. Admins need to review provisional users and the plan's settings before that access turns into paid membership.

Three planners and fifteen qualifying external Guests can use three Business Member seats. Three planners and fifteen internal staff who edit rows may need eighteen Member seats after provisional access. Use the second calculation if those colleagues need ongoing editing.

Which plan has the features you need?

Pro includes Gantt charts, dashboards and up to 250 automation runs a month. Business adds Timeline view, baselines and higher limits. Enterprise adds administration and portfolio features.

Gantt view and Timeline view are different. Gantt view is the dependency-driven bar chart attached to a sheet and is included on Pro. The separate Timeline view starts at Business.

  • Choose Pro for: Gantt scheduling, forms, formulas and modest automation use. Dashboards are limited to ten widgets and reports to one source sheet.
  • Choose Business for: Timeline view, built-in baseline comparison, multi-sheet reports, unlimited automations, eligible external Guests, API access and publishing.
  • Choose Enterprise for: SAML single sign-on, directory integration, user provisioning, Portfolios and Scenario Planning.
  • Compare Advanced Work Management for: an Enterprise package with premium apps and Premium Support bundled in.

Pro does not include built-in baseline comparison. Also distinguish Google or Microsoft sign-in from SAML single sign-on through your own identity provider, which requires Enterprise.

Which features cost extra?

Dynamic View starts at $125 a month and Data Shuttle at $100 a month, on top of Business or Enterprise. Other products, including Resource Management and Control Center, require a quote. Bridge is available with Enterprise.

If you need several premium apps, compare their combined cost with an Advanced Work Management quote. Do not assume the bundle is cheaper until you have prices for the same requirements.

What does Smartsheet cost a small team in practice?

Take a team of four planning one project with a client who needs to edit a few rows. On Pro billed yearly that is $36 a month, but the client cannot be a Guest on Pro, so either the client becomes a fifth Member at $45 total, or the client is given Commenter access only. If the team wants Timeline view, baselines or the client editing for free, the plan is Business: four Members at $76 a month billed yearly, $96 billed monthly, with the client as a free Guest.

Add Dynamic View at its $125 starting price and Data Shuttle at $100, and the four-person Business example reaches $301 a month on annual seat billing. Compare that setup with an Advanced Work Management quote before choosing either route.

List the features and editing roles the team needs before pricing a plan. Include paid add-ons in the total. If you also use Microsoft tools, compare Project and Smartsheet and the Microsoft Project prices for the same group of users.

Is Smartsheet free, and is the Free plan still available?

Not for new users. Smartsheet's Free plan article states that the Free plan has not been available to new signups since 28 August 2024. People who had it before then keep it, with its old limits: two sheets, two collaborators plus yourself, 100 automation runs a month and 500 MB of storage. If you did not have one by that date, you cannot get one.

What a new signup gets is a 30-day trial of the full product with no credit card. When the trial ends, your sheets become read-only for 30 days and are then deleted unless you upgrade. The Pro plan at $9 is the cheapest exit, and it is only sold to new customers, so an existing Business account cannot step down to it.

If "free" is the actual requirement rather than "cheap", the honest answer is a different product. For a schedule with dependencies, milestones and a critical path, Ganttile is free with no project limit and nothing to install, and it exports to Excel, PDF and Microsoft Project XML when someone needs the plan in another tool. It is a Gantt chart, not a work platform: there are no forms, no automations and no dashboards, so it suits the person who wanted Smartsheet's Gantt view and nothing else. The project schedule template shows what that looks like in practice. The round-up of free Gantt chart software covers the other no-licence options, including the ones with free tiers that cap projects rather than close.

Has Smartsheet pricing changed this year?

The list prices have not. Pro at $9 and Business at $19 per Member per month billed yearly, the 1 to 10, 3 or more and 10 or more Member bands, and the quoted Enterprise and Advanced Work Management tiers are the same figures the pricing page carried at the start of the year. Smartsheet's AI features, including Smart Assist, Smart Columns and the AI dashboard builder, are included on every plan with no credits and no metering, which has become unusual as other work platforms have moved AI onto separate credit bundles.

What has changed is around the seats rather than the rates. Earlier in 2026 the Viewer seat became the Contributor seat, which added free commenting and attachments on every user-model plan. In September 2026 Smartsheet retired the legacy Card view for Pro customers and replaced it with Board view, which is not yet available on mobile. Neither moved a price.

A higher renewal total can come from a larger paid seat count even when the per-Member rate is unchanged. Review internal editing, provisional access and reconciled Members against the previous invoice. Compare Smartsheet alternatives if that cost no longer fits the work.

Price the people and the work together

Start with required features, then count paid Members and add any premium apps. Check internal editing roles before assuming colleagues can update sheets for free.

If you only need to create a schedule for others to read, a free Gantt tool may fit. In Ganttile, share a PDF or image export. Smartsheet offers a broader system for forms, reports and automations, so keep those requirements in the comparison.
